hmmm...livejournal...right...almost forgot about you...
Well let's see...what's happened since October...
So my mom decided on this musical (Malice in the Palace) to do with church back home. I couldn't be there for when they actually did it, but my mom wanted me to help out some anyway. So the musical was actually meant to be for kids, so between the two of us, we wrote more parts for the songs, and she also had my sister and I each write a song to add to it. So I wrote an SATB barbershop quartet for it. It's pretty nifty.
December, right before Christmas, I finally got my birthday present, being an MBox 2 mini with ProTools LE and a microphone. Basically that's recording software. So now I've been recording random stuff...made a practice CD for that musical I mentioned...
And now there's this semester...
Well the coolest thing is that Hawkapella went to Florida over spring break. It pretty much rocked, and we got along great with each other the whole time. Also, as of Tuesday, I have a solo! "Your Smiling Face" by James Taylor. So that's cool.

Ok, I have to go...
one last thought...guitar hero is a nifty game...
Ok bye

so in case you didn't notice by my almost 5-month absence, I don't really use this thing anymore...so assume I am not about to...it'll just be if I for some reason have a sudden surge of friends using it. In the meantime:
www.xanga.com/math_music_me (where you get the blog that I do update)
www.personal.psu.edu/users/e/m/ems5054/ (Flood Worship Band's basic website...just not very updated...)
www.hawkapella.com (Hawkapella = the amazing all guys a capella group that I'm in)
and then we have facebook of course, and on the side is myspace, but I don't really use that.
So yeah...byes!

So...hi!
Since my last entry a lot had happened. Hawkapella concert Thursday...with 300 people!!! Hawkapella trip to Connecticut College and sang in a concert with one of their a capella groups on Friday. Amusing party after that...only amusing because most people were drunk...while Dave M. and I just sit back and laugh, knowing we'll remember a bunch of stupid stuff they did that they won't remember. Chorus concert Saturday afternoon. Random road trip to Yale Saturday night...quite random...we were sitting around about to play a game when we decided to get up and go somewhere...without deciding really where. So yeah...trip...walked around...some pics...and trip back. It was fun! Let's see...Sunday...helped to lead worship again. Cool beans. Monday night, movie night with the IVCF folks...watched the Incredibles (great movie). Got some hugs from 2 people a few times. Left with Steve and Hannah to go back to Lancaster. Saw Rent (great music), ate thanksgiving lunch, saw some other folks, saw Rent...again..., ate Japanese with some of other side of family, church, saw a few more people, back to UHA.
Yeah...so that's it in a nutshell...if you want more details, see the xanga :-)

Ah...I see that this entry has moved an entry to the second page...at last! (in other words, I finally have more than 20 entries)

Twain:
Concerning the difference between man and the jackass: some observers hold that there isn't any.
Wow...long time no write...
So college is moving along nicely. Currently registering for next semester's classes...and a lot earlier than most freshmen due to my AP credits! Yipee. I'm trying to join band next semester, however it unfortunately may conflict with some classes that I want to take. Part of that depends on which group I make it into...which I won't find out until basically the beginning of next semester.
Anyway, so chorus is going great! It's so nice to sing with such a great group all the time! And thinking of chorus, today was rather enjoyable due to the director for that particular group of pieces being particularly weird today. "You need to be, as [some name] would say, like dancing mosquitos." "That's not dancing mosquitos! That's more like dead mosquitos. *claps hands together to squash mosquito*" Yeah, that kind of stuff.
And then there's my general engineering class where we are working with a robot and programming it to do certain things. I kinda like it actually.
And then there's IVCF, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, where we have bible studies, go to chuch together, do some random other things, and just in general like to be weird and have a lot of fun in the process!
But we definitely can't forget about Hawkapella!!!
So Hawkapella is AWESOME!!! Ok, we're not that awesome, but we definitely still rock, and are getting better all the time. We've got a big concert coming up, where we're going to be singing 11 songs...which would be as follows (in no order...or ABC order...):
500 Miles, Bubble Toes, Get in Line, Jenny Jenny (867-5309), Mr. Brightside, The Night Time is the Right Time, Prince Ali, Sunday Morning, Sweet Child O' Mine, Till There was You, and of course we can't forget about the Men Song!
So yeah, concert Nov. 17. Not that any of you will be in the area...*shrugz* oh well.
See ya!

Twain:
There is no character, howsoever good and fine, but it can be destroyed by ridicule, howsoever poor and witless. Observe the ass, for instance: his character is about perfect, he is the choicest spirit among all the humbler animals, yet see what ridicule has brought him to. Instead of feeling complimented when we are called an ass, we are left in doubt.

yeah, so in case you couldn't tell steph, we didn't end up going to boston...maybe sometime...
let's see...I am in Hawkapella, the UHA guys a capella group, and we rule! lol
We perform for the first time on Wed., after only like 5 practices or something like that. Yay for fastness! We're gonna end up having so many songs after the next couple years, because we are almost completely sophomores and freshmen (bit of a story behind why that's the case). So yeah...it's been a lot of fun.
Ok, so my classes are going fine...I'm just kinda annoyed with two of them. Ear Training is way too easy for me, and I really should have moved up to one of the next steps, but people seemed to discourage that, so I didn't, and now I'm bored with it. And then there's calc. So I actually am learning stuff every once in a while in that class, but the way the professor teaches, you have to show sooooooooooooooooo much work. It's just ridiculous, and everybody seems to think the same way. Every once in a while he has a really wacky moment though...
We were talking about some mathematician, and the kid in my class was like, didn't he die really young...like of tuberculosis? And the professor starts talking about it..."Yeah, you start to cough up blood. *cough cough* And you start to become really pale, and you look angelic. You know it was thought to be very romantic to die of tuberculosis." (Something really close to that anyway)
That and "Captain!!! Warp Speed!!!" (I have no clue how we got on that...)
So yeah...

Twain:
(referring to art)
I am glad the old masters are all dead, and I only wish they had died sooner.

Time for an update!
So things are ok here in Hartford. It's still really really hot in the dorm room, but oh well, I'll survive. At first I wasn't too sure about the people hanging out on this floor, but actually they're really cool people. We do all sorts of random things like take our friend christian to his air force base in Massachusetts at 5:30 in the morning on 0 sleep. Yeah.

While I'm on the subject of random road trips, I think we're making one to Boston in a week and a half. Hope to see you then Steph!

Let's see...my classes are going fine...some easy, some more normal. I'm in the better of the two main choruses, and then the chamber singers, which is like a sixth of all the auditioners. Today I tried out for two of the a capella groups here. We'll see what happens. Anyway, so I just thought I'd say something. Tell me to and maybe I'll give you a random phone call. And if you don't I might anyway. :-)

so...twain...
Criticism is a queer thing. If I print "She was stark naked"--& then proceeded to describe her person in detail, what critic would not howl?--who would venture to leave the book on a parlor table. --but the artist does this & all ages gather around & look & talk & point. I can't say, "They cut his head off, or stabbed him, &c" describe the blood & the agony in his face.

hmm...appears I've been neglecting my live journal...
sorry, I just have a lot more friends on xanga

So let's see, what to say...
Well, the Flood Worship Band has been started up and moving. We had our first gig this past Friday at the Mill Coffeehouse near Lititz, and it went quite well. We had some great worship songs going, and I think people in general really enjoyed it. For those of you who want to know more:
The Band:
- Eric Sauder (East Petersburg Mennonite Church): Electric Guitar, Vocals
- C.J. Smith (Landisville Mennonite Church): Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Keyboard
- Laura North (Neffsville Mennonite Church): Vocals, Keyboard
- Dan Winne (Lancaster Evangelical Free Church): Drums/Percussion
- Zach Murphy (Hempfield United Methodist Church): Electric Bass, Vocals
- Scott Iles (Mount Joy Trinity Lutheran Church): Acoustic Guitar, Vocals
- Dwight Gehman (Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church): Acoustic Guitar
With help from:
- Steve Marshall: Video Lighting
- Joel Harding: Sound

(although looking back on it, Joel did more video stuff, while Spud did...something...lights maybe, and the Steph and Frank were helping a lot with sound)

Anyway...so our next gig is likely the 11th, at my church. Hope I can see some of you there!

Let's see...my family and I went to Chincoteague for a week. It's kinda odd, it had been a long time since I had been to the beach...and suddenly I have a bit less of a t-shirt and sock tan. Mosquitos weren't too bad, which is actually normal, even though they're known for mosquitos...they just spray the place a lot.

well, a got a new computer, don't know if I wrote that on here yet. It's quite nice. desktop, Windows XP (Pro?), Pentium something or other, flat-screen monitor, 160 gig. It's all cool.

college...wow...that should be weird...
I don't really know what to expect anymore...

well...guess it's time for twain...
Like all the other nations, we worship money and the possessors of it- they being our aristocracy, and we have to have one. We like to read about rich people in the papers; the papers know it, and they do their best to keep this appetite liberally fed.

Twain:
We have to be despised by somebody whom we regard as above us or we are not happy; we have to have somebody to worship and envy or we cannot be content. In America we manifest this in all the ancient and customary ways. In public we scoff at titles and hereditary privilege but privately we hanker after them, and when we get a chance we buy them for cash and a daughter.

ah...been a while...
So last I left you, I still hadn't gone into how totally amazing Godspell Jr. was.

(wait for it...)

It was totally amazing!!!

(...)

no, but seriously, I had so much fun. And the people I got to know are just great. I met some of them last year, because I did the Neffsville musical last year too, but I got to know them more this year. And then what was even better was I got to see them more recently too...but more on that later. So yeah, I played Jesus in it, and...well that was a lot of lines. We added a lot of great things into our version to make it a little more interesting. If you ever get a chance, I have a video copy of it, so come over sometime and we can watch.
Anyway...then after the performances (every one pretty much), we ended up going somewhere...rita's was a popular place. And so I have had more Rita's in the past month than I probably have in the rest of my life. But anyway, yeah, it was really fun. But then the last place we went to had no air conditioning...so it was kinda hot...blah...
But anyway, overall I LOVED IT!!!

so then I was off to CFO...
so let's see what I can scrounge up off my xanga...

CFO was amazing as always. Got to hang out with my "little sister" Rachael a bunch. Kinda weird...some people probably could've thought we were like going out...but we're definitely not...and neither of us really have any desire to do so with each other...we just like hangin' out. She's got a guy she likes anyway. So I met her friend, Tammy...who's closer to me in age than Rachael is. (me = 18, tam. = 17 (in a few days), rach = 14 (in a few days)) Slightly ridiculous actually...
Anyway...one of the other things I enjoyed most was playing my keyboard as part of the worship "team" for the high school. For those of you who really don't know what all goes into this (or rather doesn't go into it):
So there's this guy named Seth, and he plays guitar (doesn't know that many chords, but it's all cool). We met him last year, and my sister (real, not Rachael) and I joined him to lead worship for the high school. So both this year and last, he has itty bitty plans of what songs to do, but typically he ignores most of it anyway. We've got no music, no chords usually, and sometimes no words. Although this year was slightly better because he actually had a box of overheads. But anyway, so we'll be playing (without music or a plan of when we go to, say the bridge, or a second chorus), and the next song he'll just start playing and singing is not in the group he picked out, so he won't have the overhead handy. Then other times he tells me to just keep playing, while he goes and searches for a while for an overhead of a song he feels like doing.
So yeah...it's "fun" trying to figure out the chords to a song I don't know at all as we go along playing for them (cause it's not like we practiced much, and certainly not the songs we're actually doing).
No, seriously, we were perfectly fine without music or chords for the songs we knew, and I caught on fast to the songs I didn't know. But yeah, I just loved playing (sorta improvising really), and we had some really powerful worship going on.
So anyway...that's CFO...

Then there was Charlotte.
Well, I was looking forward to this. Not only because I had a great time in Atlanta two years ago, but because I knew there were going to be people from Godspell Jr. there that I rarely see in the first place.

THERE WERE 15 OF US!!! (as far as I know...Neffs: B, T, R, E, R, J, L, S, Land: C, C, M, Something St.: J, B, Akron: K, p (sorry, capitalization is currently not working on the letter p), J...that's 16...) Ok then, 16, even better....and groupie Rachel not included, so maybe call it 17.
So yeah...it was kinda weird...typically for youth group things, Matt Y. is my best bud that I hang out with the most. We still did some, for example, buses, but I wanted to hang out with Godspell folk, and he didn't have as strong a desire, while Craig did. Craig and I are on and off buds...sometimes we hang out a lot at this kind of thing, other times we don't. This happened to be a time where we hung out pretty much constantly.
So every morning we (Craig and I) got together with people for breakfast...except that I don't eat breakfast...but everybody else did. Then throughout the day, when we could escape the wraths of Kathy and Nancy, we would try to find them again.
Anyway...you really don't want to hear me go into detail about stuff, good and bad, so...random stuff...

So Tuesday we went to an amusement park, and that was a lot of fun.
And the worship band there was cool (I'm not involved in this one). There's the theme song, with a good bass part. Then there's the song whose title was never technically revealed, and so was always referred to as the ABC song. (for those of you who weren't there, you have no clue why). I guess it can be titled Say the Word. And then there were a few more songs that were new to me actually, even if they weren't to others. My favorite new song was commonly referred to as the waterfall song, cause it's title is "Water Fall On Me". And just as a random comment, I think God of Wonders is currently my favorite worship song.
So yeah, I enjoyed the music. And then there were other parts of the service that were cool...or just weird...or creepy. Drama team for example. Benji Myers, from my church originally, played a guy in a wheelchair who gets healed, and he did a great job (the cool part). Then there's another guy who had a really really creepy laugh. It was great...but kinda creepy... (the creepy part obviously)
ooh, I still get shivers thinking about it

Oh yeah, and...
WELCOME
TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
CHARLOTTE
YAAAA'LLLL (or) BELOVED ____(insert name here)

and so whenever he came up, you heard the crowd go "TOOOOOOOOOOO" and at first it sounded like booing. So eventually, he just let everybody say TOOOOOOOO

Ah yes, and then there was Ted and Lee, and they were great as always.

Now for some quotes:
"Ooiziba!" - Rob attempting and failing to hit the volleyball
oh yeah, did I mention the absolutely amazing volleyball games?
(we are playing catch phrase:) "Blank blank egg." - Rob "Chicken Chicken Egg..." - C.J.
"I dare say you are passing mental gas." - Ted and Lee
"Not with a fondue, not with an emu." - Ted and Lee (at this point we, being the godspellers, went crazy...if you saw it you know why)
and really pretty much everything Ted and Lee said..."Was(vas) is das chisel?"
"Sleeping is a waste of time." - one of the speakers
man, I really wish I still had that quote book...
"We're ALWAYS looking for them." - Matt Y.
"70 % of the time it works, and the other 70 % of the time..." - Craig "Uh, craig..." - C.J.
"What do yous expect?" - "Cecil"
"He says rise up and walk. And he walks! Hee hee ha ha ha!" - "Cecil"
"Judge says 'sit down, be quiet' " - "Cecil"

Ok...I'm gonna wrap it up for now...

and yeah, I think we need to do something, Caitlyn, Steph, ...(not at the same time...cause I don't think you know each other...lol...but anyway)...and well I guess I'll see Laura next week probably.

But anyway...so hopefully I'll talk to you guys soon

ttyl
sorry, no time for Twain

It really is amazing how in the world...

(hmm...I don't remember where I was going with that comment...)

Anyway, so yeah, you would think now that summer's here, I would be updating more often...but I find other stuff to do too.

hmm...graduation parties...
Steph W.: At least when I was there, not too many kids showed up...but then again I wasn't there nearly the whole time or anything. After an hour, most of my friends who were there left, so like ten minutes later I did too. Sorry Steph W.
Ashley H.: Well...I got there...at the same time that Matt K. got there actually...and we see some people hanging out in the front yard. Among these are Ashley H. herself and Meg and various others. So Meg brought cigars and they were smoking them...
...I was just kinda like...o..k..
I do believe that's the first time I've been offered something to smoke...I was just kinda like, nah
So yeah, Meg apparently brought these...I don't remember why...just had them around...they were old she said.
But suddenly my look at...well really most of those people changed a bit.
So Rob and I decide to get away from the smokers and go find something to eat. We get to the back yard and there's a HUGE tent. She was quite prepared for rain...although it didn't do so.
So I had some food...including some nifty brownie-type things. Did...not much for a while... Then the ELPS crew got there. Sometime after, Dan Winne tells us he overheard Ashley's mom saying something about Ashley should really go for that black-haired kid (happened to be Spud). We all found that amusing.
Anyway, a little later we're playing volleyball...but with an extremely hard ball. Ouch...that game hurt.
Sometime, not sure when, we discovered that the tent was really sturdy...something landed on it, maybe the volleyball, and practically nothing happened: the ball just slid down. So we decided we should slide down it at the end.
Oh yeah, and then there's...ah wait, none of you will know what I'm talking about...
Yay for Dwinne, Smyser, and I for representing the non-smokers (Rob probably would have been included, but he left).
Megan M: What a place. And how bout that food. It was great...would've been a really nice day for the thermal death ray.
But anyway...so I think there ended up being more teachers than kids...but cool teachers, so it's all good. So I talked to ELPS until they left to prepare. Then I talked to Steph J. and Frank some, then Matt Y. shows up, and...well either we talk to each other or we talk to other people...including Mrs. Haldeman I think...not quite sure, but she talked with us for a while. So I was actually at that party the whole time.
So then Amy asks for a ride to other places, and we're off to...
Derek L.: Didn't stay too long...played some badminton...then ate a few shrimp and some other things, then we were off again to...
ELPS: So I guess you may be wondering what in the world ELPS is.
ELPS = Eric, Lindsay, Phil, Spud
And they had a moonbounce...slightly disappointed that I didn't go on it at all.
However, I had about the best volleyball game ever. 4 on 4, great teams, and, well, just WOW.
But after that game I had to leave...

Home again...I am soaked with sweat at this point, so I need to take a quick shower. Then it's off to a Bainbridge band concert in Mountville. Here I meet up with Stoeckle, and I take her to...
Matt Y.: Ok, so it was supposedly going from 6 to 9, but Matt said it would probably go later...
I thought we would be there around 8:30, but it ended up being right around 9.
Everybody had left, but we stayed for over an hour anyway. Fruit in chocolate fondue (whatever letters are supposed to be there) is amazing.
Anyway...so...yeah...
now that I've bored you to death...

Twain:
April Fool's Day:
This is the day upon which we are reminded of what we are on the other three hundred and sixty-four.

So...I had orientation at Hartford this past weekend...read about it on my xanga.

Graduation practices...pretty boring...especially when you're in the front row and have to wait forever for the rest of your class to fill in.
But then senior picnic afterwards today...fun stuff.
I really enjoy that kind of thing...weird things happen, and just in general fun...

...but I wish that would happen more often...I wish I had friend gettogethers to go to every once in a while...as it is it's pretty rare...
But then again...I think I complain about that kind of thing too much...
So I'll drop that

Hmm...well, commencement tomorrow...
and graduation party:
June 11
5 to whatever
Landisville Mennonite Church (Bowman Road, near school)
Food, volleyball, frisbee, etc.
Everybody come!!!

Hmm...I could use somebody to talk to...somebody...somebody I feel close to and can trust...oh well, I've survived most of my life without it.

See ya!

Twain:
We can secure other people's approval if we do right and try hard; but our own is worth a hundred of it, and no way has been found out of securing that.

I remembered today...I already forget what made me remember, but the point is: I remember.

Well actually there's sorta two versions...
1. It has been proven that living is a leading contributor to cancer.
or 2. It has been found that dying helps prevent cancer.

Thank you, that's all I have time for today.

...I think I like number 2 better...

And thinking of number twos, Bo Bice still rocks (in more than one way).

So how's everybody doing?
Ok, so it's been a little bit longer than I expected it to end up being...but oh well.
So now is the time where I get to sum up everything recent...going back 2 weeks.
So yeah, my guys a capella group R# sang at LMH. Due to some much needed practice, I actually convinced 10 of the 11 other guys to come at 6:30ish (a.m.) so we could get things a little more solid. So then around 7:15 we left for LMH. We get there, with some random guys supposedly doing a sound check, even though they never said a word. Anyway, so we sang...I guess 7 songs: Folgers, My Lord and My God, I Can See Clearly Now, For the Longest Time, Carmen Sandiego, Blue Moon (randomly added right then), and Eye of the Tiger. This was really our first time getting through Eye of the Tiger, and it actually worked pretty well.
So yeah, Folgers has become like our official opener, My Lord and My God was our token religious song (after all, we were at a supposedly mennonite school), I Can See Clearly Now and For the Longest Time were just kinda placed in the middle, with I Can See Clearly Now probably being our most "famous" song for this year, and For the Longest Time...well nothing in particular about that one. (I care not that the sentence didn't work out correctly) Then Carmen Sandiego is the song we got started with, Blue Moon, like I said, was randomly added, taken from dance theater the previous three days, and Eye of the Tiger was our "big closer", which ended up having an ending that totally died. As soon as Phil went "ADRIENNE!!!", they started clapping, and so you couldn't really hear the last part...except for maybe a last measure or two.
Well afterwards, people (most of them we knew) came up and said things to the effect of "This is one of like only 3 good chapels we've had this year." I'm just thinking: that's kinda sad, cause we're not THAT good.
But all in all, everybody really really enjoyed it.
...and then we sang Eye of the Tiger for the sixth graders in our district...and pretty much failed miserably.

AP tests...you don't really want to know about them do you?

Hershey Park...well in summary, two thursdays ago was physics day at hershey park: the big day where physics classes from a wide area come and "study" the rides. So basically just a day where we get short lines (some crazy short) and just a general great day. And Hung still never fails to amuse us all.
Then the next couple days in Physics were spent playing Chess and having Mr. Zimmerman teach us Go.

Anyway...orchestra concert...ok, so it improved a lot on the day of the concert. 3 solos is ridiculous...especially when none of them even made regionals. One of them probably should have, but that doesn't mean 3 people get solos, excluding the one senior who DID make regionals. ...and then I find out the reason for the ridiculous soloage was because Amy and her parents complained....grr...
And then I wrote a decently long section going more into the whole solo issue...and how I'm annoyed...but I decided to delete it...

So...prom...and post prom. Well, they were good. Although the one thing at post prom really hurt my knees, as well as other people's limbs. And also although something bad came out of prom. Not directly for me, but through somebody else, so it becomes indirectly for me. But I think for Carolyn and I, it was good.

PCTM, eh? The last high school math competition of my career. It was decent...and a lot harder than years past. I got 4th overall, and my team got 3rd, so that was ok by me. Saw most of the familiar math idiots (obviously not in the sense that they're idiots...oh never mind). Anyway...some good volleyball...and I taught Scott how to do a 4x4x4 rubik's cube.
But then there's that cockroach we saw crawling in the lunch room...

Then this past week...
Well, chorus concert and practices. Ended up going mostly well, despite the fact that my throat was in bad shape the whole week. Except for at LIC, I did fine. LIC wasn't too bad, but I didn't come in until halfway through my two person solo due to my throat being too messed up to sing. So I guess it sounded like she sang the first half and I sang the second. I made a huge cough during the first half, so I could actually sing again. So...chamber singers is just about done for me...not quite.

Star Wars episode 3...is amazing...

I think I will go now...you readers can be proud that you are reading this since I haven't put it on my xanga yet.

A few thoughts:
Art is man's attempt to confuse those around him: people can't seem to agree on what the artist meant in his work.

...now I know there was another one...but I can't remember what it was...darn

Twain:
Even Noah got no salary for the first six months--partly on account of the weather and partly because he was learning navigation.

So...I would talk about Dance Theater, but I already did that in my xanga over two entries, and it's long, so I don't want to write a bunch in here too.
But I will briefly describe it:
So every year about 140 kids start dancing in December or January for 3 absolutely amazing performances.
This year was slightly different, as we danced and fund-raised in order to raise money to grant 3 kids' wishes with the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
So the show was called "I Wish"
Dance theater always has a wide variety of dancing and songs in it, and this year was no exception. It's always a lot of fun, and I'm so glad I was in it.

To read about it: http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=math_music_me

Ok...so as I said on my xanga:
but I don't feel like writing some more...
things to look forward to me writing about:
R# at LMH, AP tests, Hershey Park, Orchestra Concert...
and by the time I write the next one, quite possible Prom and post-prom and PCTM
And a preview of Godspell Jr.

Ok, so I will talk to you all later.

Mark Twain quote of the week(ish):
Moralizing, I observed, then, that "all that glitters is not gold."
Mr. Ballou said I could go further than that, and lay it up among my treasures of knowledge, that nothing that glitters is gold. So I learned then, once for all, that gold in its native state is but dull, unornamental stuff, and that only lowborn metals excite the admiration of the ignorant with an ostentatious glitter. However, like the rest of the world, I still go on underrating men of gold and glorifying men of mica. Commonplace human nature cannot rise above that.

(If you haven't looked at my IM info, this has been a regular feature on that, and I am adding it to this.)

Looking around at DT...
I could have done such a better job at making friends throughout high school. I often feel I don't really have any good friends...just a lot of acquaitances that I am friendly with. I didn't really understand why that is...cause I don't not-like many people...I get along fine with most everybody. I still don't totally understand it...however I was realizing a few things I could have tried. Not to mention I could be a little less quiet. It just feels really good when somebody tells me something personal...it lets me know I'm a friend to them...that just rarely happens at all.
I guess I just need to talk more and be less shy.

Well I'm gonna at least get together with some people who are close enough to good friends over the summer...but then there is the question...what exactly should I do? How bout you people...what do you do with your friends? And then...I don't know...
Right now the best I can think of is perhaps to just go to the person's house, hang out for a while, and then you can decide to do something (or nothing but talk) like watch/rent a movie at whichever house you're at, go to see a movie, or...get some food, or...do something else...mini-golf or bowling...
I don't know...

I think I need help
(well that's an understatement)

Dance Theater's amazing anyway...I'm so glad I'm in it.
And we have another performance tonight.
so ttyl

Ah! I'm updating!
Something must be wrong...

So let's see...last time I updated was last year...
well, a lot has happened since then...
like musical...Bye Bye Birdie...which was very cool, especially getting to sing "Talk to Me"...and on tenor 2 (even though I usually sing bass 2). A lot of fun.
And then we have all sorts of PMEA/LLMEA stuff. County Band, County Chorus (on piano and voice), District Band (bout time I made it), District Chorus, Regional Band (moving from 10th to 3rd....interesting), Regional Chorus, and yes, even State...
(drum roll please....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)
(cymbal crash)
BAND!!!
yeah...so totally odd...didn't make district band last year...although I'm awfully suspicious of those judges...
I definitely thought chorus was a more likely possibility...I wish I had made state chorus last year
cause you can't be in more than one in a year.
But anyway...made a group of friends at regional and state band, since I had nobody else from hempfield to be with.
Lots of good music.

So let's see...well, a recent thing is the HACC math competition that we had Friday.
I won, Johnna got second, and yet our team got second...poor freshman...probably feels pretty badly.

And today was tech day for dance theater (which after today's conversations, I know all (a whopping 3) of you now know what it is)
Dance Theater's going to be great...but possibly embarassing (to find out why, come and see...you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it...what am I talking about, 2 of you live in delaware and the other, you're currently in your half-living in Mass.
No, it's really fun.

So anyway...I'm ready for school to end...it's official, I'm going to University of Hartford for Acoustics and Music (a special built-together major).
So soon I will be at the same school as Steve...and hopefully I can see you (Steph) every once in a while now that I will be less than 6 hours away...heck, less than 2 hours. As for you other two...it's farther...so I guess we'll stick to IM.

Things to look forward to:
R# singing at LMH
graduating
Godspell Jr. at Rob Hein's church
CFO
seeing friends over the summer
starting over in college

Ok...so that was long...but I think I might try to update a little more often than I have. Hopefully I can find a few more people with this.

Well, I hope at least the three of you read this...
Anyway, ttyl

hey what do you know, I'm updating in here...that makes 2 entries
...well...sorta anyway...
I know a total of two people who have this...I'm sure there's more, and I just don't know them...but anyway...
Merry Christmas to y'all.
(and I'm totally not southern)
anyway...maybe if Whitney insists I'll update occasionally in this...but in the meantime, go to my xanga: www.xanga.com/math_music_me
oh wait...I do know a third person...sorta...and I even commented on his...
anyway...comment if you know me at all...and you somehow find me...
